Where Is It?

Outside Temperature Sensor

Outside Temperature Sensor

OK guys & gals,
Where is the external temperature sensor supposed to fit on my '87 S4? I am presuming somewhere under the left front headlight, since I see a round two-pole plug hanging down there. This presumably is the reason for no temperature control whatsoever; it's either off (stinking cold) or on (bloody hot) with no inbetween. Is there a specific bracket somewhere where it should attach, and
furthermore; ANYBODY HAVE A SENSOR TO SELL REASONABLY PRICED????

Cheers, Jan

Jan,
the external sensor is in the left fender, underneath the lamp assey. You will have to take off the internal fendor cover, and the plate closing the front section of the fender. The one in my '88 s4 is located in the airflow of the alternator hose. Quite losely attached. Im unsure if this is original setup though. There is some additional info on this on my web that you might want to study.

I'm sure that 928intl sell these sensors, but they are basically NTC resistors if its purest form. Maybe Radio Shack have the same?
