As I have seen here before and found out myself the hard way, the odometer worm gear follower (not the worm gear itself) has no doubt broken. Try:

They were quick and reasonable for me. You will need to send them your whole instrument cluster, but it only cost around $9 to send from Texas...

A while ago i inquired about finding a replacement gear for my speedo. I had talked to a lot of the BIG speedometer repair shops and none was willing to sell me just the gear. They all wanted between $90 and $125 to replace the gear. I live on the east coast and sending my speedometer 6000 miles round trip didn't seem in the best interest of my speedometer. I hate to even send snail mail anymore. If you could see the guy who delivers my mail - well you get the idea. I am afraid to have direct eye contact with him. It's one of those weakness things.

I had called PELICAN parts to get a price on something and just for the fun of it I asked Tom if he knew of any place that might just sell the gear. He gave me a # to call and I called. Talked to the guy and he said send my speedometer to him and he would fix it for $45. I told him sending it wasn't a good idea -would he just send the gear. Well after a l o n g conversation and some persuasion he said he would send it to me for $30 S&H included. It takes about 10 minutes to remove and replace. I now have a fully functioning speedometer again!

The info is as follows:
PAUL'S Speedometer Service
529 N.Pacific Coast Hwy.
Redondo Beach, Cal 90277
TEL (310) 374-3017
Gary Auberlen(owner)

I asked Gary to give me his web page but he doesn't have one. I told him that I would post his business information because he did right by me. I would suggest sending your speedometer to him if at all possible for repairs. He has to order the replacement gears from the motherland and he doesn't like sending them out.
