Medium-cost Tires

I'm in need of tires for my 86.5, after having vaporized my Dunlops all over Northeastern PA. I'm using the factory 7-slot rims, and I'm looking at 225 50Z16 tires. I want to buy the tires and still have some gas money, so I am focusing on medium-cost tires. If any sharkers are using/have used these tires and have opinions on them, please respond:

Yokohama Nexus $133 @ Tire Rack (side-specific tread pattern)
Firestone Firehawk SZ50 $142 @ Tire Rack (rated quite well)
Bridgestone Potenza RE71 $101
BFGoodrich Comp T/A ZR $126 (rated below Firehawk)

Can I do better than these in the US $120 - $160 price range?
I'd prefer not to go broke on these since a wheel/tire upgrade might be in the future ;^)

I had the BFG ZR4s once and found them OK. For even a bit less $$$ the BFG VR4s are OK as well.

I've seen Firestones on Porsches and they are not as sticky or hold up as well at track events as the BFGs. YMMV. If I were to replace the set I have now (BFG VR4s) I'd either go to Pirelli P 7000 ZR4s or Yokohama ZR4s.

Notice, all season tires in every case. I drive the shark rain or shine or even snow.

Merry motoring, Ed.

Out of these 4 i'd have to recommend the RE-71's. IMO they are the best value for the amount of performance that you get. Do you live in the US? If so let me know which brand you decide to go with and I'll beat the Tire Rack's price.

Best,
