Tires

Comp T/A ZR4

Comp T/A ZR4

There was some talk recently about tires. Just got a couple. My 91S4 is a daily driver, no track stuff, so I wanted something a little more versatile than my Comp T/A's (for dry, rain, and unfortunate slush if caught at work before I can get my beater winter car). After a bunch of shopping, went with Comp T/A ZR4's. So far, I am happy. Seem quiet, no slipping when goosing right turns in the rain, and don't look too bad either (side view much like the Comp T/A's, tread different of course, 300 treadwear rating). Would recommend for you folks that use their 928 more than 6 months a year and in colder areas. $145/each 245/45-16. By the way, through mutual friends, met the manager at TRB in Manassas, VA that helped me. Got to watch them change the tires, tough job with fat daddy tires, and being careful with expensive rims. Discussed the tire pressure sensors on the wheels, as I didn't really want them to destroy the wheel. They had just learned all about them considering they had just ruined one off of a new Corvette. The Corvette has an inner band that goes around the inside of the wheel, the Porsche's setup is just a flat disc over the sensor area, much easier to deal with.
